This week I have added something new to our school day. The children and I have been listening to Classical music while learning. I have heard that listening to the classics such as Beethoven & Bach is great for the mind while learning facts. I figured it couldn't hurt, in fact it is a much better choice than listening to Beyonce, Hannah Montana, The Jonas Brothers or radio Disney during school hours.
I thought I would have lots of complaints, but I was pleasantly surprised. I used a very soft volume. Each of the kids enjoyed the CD's that I played for them and even put them on repeat. Indya wanted to swap out hers with Isaiah just so that she could hear what he was listening to in comparison to her. It was soothing to me also. I normally will listen to classical, symphony music while preparing for bed to calm myself after a busy day, but it was a nice change of pace to hear it in the middle of the day.
There is some controversy out there as to whether or not it is actually beneficial or not. I looked it up and there is a whole lot of info to read on the subject. I'll admit, I did not overly indulge myself with it. All I know is that we did it, we liked it, and we'll do it again.
