Almost forgot how good this felt

Since I spend a large portion of my time teaching and reading with the children all week for school, I have to admit that I haven't done much reading with them for fun. Prior to home schooling I read them bedtime stories just about every day. However, somehow we have gotten totally out of doing it, we've lost our way.

Well, that is until tonight. The children were supposed to be asleep as I walked past their bedroom to complete my evening chores. Then, breaking the silence, I hear a little voice requesting a bed time story. Not to mention the adorable face looking up at me so sincere that I could not say no.

I found a good book and curled up beside my little girl and read her a story with the emphasis of a professional story teller. Oh the joy, that I felt as I slipped into that familiar place. That warm and fuzzy place of love and security. The feel of her beaming eyes of adoration just reminded me of what I was missing and perhaps what she may have been missing too.

So, the bond was renewed and once again I was mommy. Just plain ol' mommy the story teller, the bed tucker, the goodnight forehead kisser and the bear hug giver. Yeah....the chores had to wait. I had something more important to tend to.
