There is so much junk on the television that we have to put limits on the type of shows and how much of it our children can watch. Which is why I was pleased to know that GPBS created a new show that was filled with not only all the usual "kid stuff" that draws kids in, but one that really teaches something (and that draws parents in).
Even better, we were invited to "Doughnuts & Dinosaurs ; a special screening of
Dinosaur Train. A new show, airing on September 13Th.
As we watched the show I was very impressed. Although it was created for the pint size people of the world, they did not use pint sized words. The scenes were creatively designed to explain the habitats, daily activity and physical characteristics of various dinosaurs and their respective time periods. Along with teaching proper pronunciation of some of those tough dinosaur names like.....well, you know what I mean. And besides the educational side of it all, the show and it's characters are funny! Even I was chuckling at the jokes and witty humor.
*My niece Montreal and daughter Indya posing with Buddy, one of the characters. I kept laughing because the kids were almost his same height and I was expecting something adult sized. I was thinking to myself; " is that a kid in that suite or is it a really short adult?"After the screening was over we were totally delighted to receive our doughnuts.
Okay, maybe I was totally delighted.
We got there just before the screening began and I could barely contain myself for fear of the idea that I Missed the Doughnuts. Oooooh and they were from Krispy Kreme too! Also There were juices provided, but I would have much rather had a nice hot cup of Joe to dip my doughnut, but I digress, and I know...be happy for what I had. (I was)
Sooooo, anyhow the GPBS studio staff really treated the invited guests wonderfully. There was face painting, balloon sculpting, arts and crafts, and a train ride available for all to enjoy.
Which we really did.
*did you notice the rockin' shirts? Cool right?
* This is the Dino Train that we rode outside the studios. It was supposed to be a kiddie ride, but the conductor made it really fun for all ages. We literally had to hold on to our seat!
Whoo whoo!
Many times we say there are not enough good programs on TV, so when there is one that has good content and well written we should support it. Especially the ones on public broadcasting. So please mark your calender for Dinosaur week, September 13-18 2009 on GPB. Sounds like you guys had a good time. How special to be treated to a pre screening. And yes the tshirts rocked. I kept trying to read them in each pic
That sounds and looks like so much fun. I loved the face painting and the shirts! Girl, I probably would have thought the same thing about having a doughnut! Need a cup of coffee to top it off. :)
